You know how sometimes good things come in pairs? Two of our kids became doctors this week. On Tuesday, our baby (Quinn) defended his dissertation at the U of I. We were able to attend his defense and were pretty proud of him. He looked great, and sounded great, even if we understood little of what he said. His PhD in Biochemistry is official now and next week he's off to Harvard to begin a 3-5 year post doc -- grades 24 to 28.
The following day, Travis graduated from the 27th grade and became an official doctor. He's done a bachelor's degree, medical school, residency, and now a fellowship, and I don't even think there is anything more he could do if he wanted to. Even as I write this he is driving his family across the country (and I really mean across -- from Boston to Washington State) where he will begin his practice as an orthopedic surgeon.
Our children have all worked really really hard and have gone through years of long hours and little income. They've had children and been good parents, held significant church callings, provided lots of service to other people, gone through discouraging times, scary times, tired times, and exhilarating times. Congratulations to our two newest doctors!

I am so proud!!! Give your handsome sons and their awesome wives a sincere hug from us. We love them, wish we could get together more often. Thank heavens for blogs so we can still feel close. Congrats also to Travis on baby girl!!
I'm glad that top doctor is moving back to Boston!
Congratulations to them both!
Take a bow mamma. You clearly deserve some credit. We love them both and would love to talk them into this neighborhood.
This is just wonderful! Those children of yours have done well. We are proud of them too! Maybe they had good home teachers!

What part of Washington State is Travis moving to? We live about 30 minutes East of Seattle. If they are in the area and need anything tell them to give us a call.
Jeff and Marcia Slichta are in Washington State.. Ady is our daughter. :) too many people logged into accounts on the computer.
